This guide outlines the submission process, manuscript preparation, and ethical standards required for publication in MIJMS.

1. Scope of the Journal

MIJMS publishes peer-reviewed articles across the full breadth of medical science. The journal welcomes submissions in areas including, but not limited to:

• General and Internal Medicine

• Public Health and Global Health

• Surgery, Pediatrics, and Women’s Health

• Medical Technology and Diagnostics

• Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine

• Biomedical and Translational Research

• Health Systems, Policy, and Education

• Ethics in Medical Science and Practic

2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

MIJMS accepts the following article types:

• Original Research Articles – Full studies contributing novel medical or clinical findings

• Review Articles – Comprehensive overviews of current topics in medical science

• Clinical Case Reports – Detailed accounts of unique or instructive clinical cases

• Brief Communications – Concise reports of preliminary or significant findings

• Editorials – Expert commentary or invited perspectives

• Letters to the Editor – Constructive academic opinions or responses to published articles

3. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

A. Formatting Requirements

• Submit in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

• Use Times New Roman, 12-point font

• 1.5 line spacing, with pages numbered consecutively

• Title page must include:

  • Full manuscript title

  • All author names and affiliations

  • Corresponding author’s contact information

B. Abstract and Keywords

• Required for all research and review articles (max 250 words)

• Structured abstract for original research:
  Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion

• Provide 4–6 keywords after the abstract

C. Main Text Structure

For Original Research Articles, structure should include:

• Introduction

• Methods

• Results

• Discussion

• Conclusion

Other article types may follow a format appropriate to their content.

4. References and Citation Style

• Use Vancouver citation style

• References must be cited in the order they appear in the text

• Include only published or publicly available sources

• Ensure all references are accurate and correctly formatted

5. Figures and Tables

• Place at the end of the manuscript or submit as separate files

• Number figures and tables consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1)

• Include clear legends for each figure/table

• All images must be high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi)

6. Ethical Considerations

A. Human and Animal Studies

• Submit documentation of ethical approval for studies involving human/animal subjects

• Confirm informed consent was obtained for human studies

• Comply with local, national, and institutional ethical regulations

B. Plagiarism and Originality

• All manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere

• Manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software

• Authors are accountable for data integrity and authenticity

C. Authorship

• MIJMS follows ICMJE authorship criteria

• All listed authors must have made a significant contribution

• Changes in authorship after submission require written consent from all authors

7. Peer Review Process

• MIJMS operates a double-blind peer-review process

• All submissions reviewed by at least two independent experts

• Average decision time: 4 to 6 weeks

• Editorial decisions include reviewer feedback

• Revisions may be requested before acceptance

8. Open Access Policy

MIJMS is a fully open access journal. All published content is freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use with appropriate citation.

9. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To support open access and journal operations, an Article Processing Charge (APC) may apply.

• Waivers or discounts are available for authors from low-income countries or with demonstrated need.
