Our journal scope covers the entire spectrum of global health and epidemiology — including infectious disease surveillance, health systems research, environmental health, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, social determinants of health, and public health policy. Every article we publish is selected for its potential to make a meaningful contribution to population health improvement and health equity worldwide.

Editorial Policy

1. Scope of Content

The Mogito Open Access Journal of Global Health & Epidemiology (MJGHE) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances global health knowledge, epidemiological science, and public health practice. We accept a wide range of manuscript types, including:

  • Original research articles
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • Field studies and implementation research
  • Technical notes and public health innovations
  • Case reports and epidemiological investigations
  • Editorials, policy perspectives, and correspondence

Our scope includes, but is not limited to:

  • Global disease surveillance and outbreak response
  • Epidemiological methods and data modeling
  • Infectious and non-communicable disease epidemiology
  • Health equity and social determinants of health
  • Health systems, policy, and global governance
  • Environmental and occupational health
  • Maternal, child, and reproductive health
  • Vaccination and preventive public health programs
  • Climate change and global health impacts
  • Humanitarian health, migration, and displaced populations

2. Peer Review Process

MJGHE applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure unbiased and rigorous evaluation. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts and assessed for:

  • Scientific validity and methodological rigor
  • Relevance to global health priorities
  • Innovation and contribution to epidemiological practice
  • Public health significance and policy impact
  • Clarity, structure, and overall academic quality

When major disagreements occur, a third reviewer or senior editor is consulted. Authors are expected to address reviewer feedback in revisions. Final decisions rest with the editorial board, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and timely processing.


3. Authorship & Contributions

MJGHE follows ICMJE authorship criteria, limiting authorship to individuals who have made substantial contributions in at least one of the following:

  • Study design or conceptualization
  • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation
  • Drafting or critically revising the manuscript
  • Final approval of the version to be published
  • Accountability for the integrity of the work

All contributions must be declared at submission. Guest, honorary, and ghost authorship are strictly prohibited.


4. Ethical Standards

MJGHE upholds COPE best practices for ethical publishing. Submissions must include:

  • Documented ethical approval for studies involving human or animal participants
  • Informed consent for identifiable patient data, interviews, or images
  • Full disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest
  • Confirmation of originality and absence of plagiarism or duplicate publication

Violations will prompt investigation and may result in retraction, rejection, or institutional notification.


5. Open Access Policy

MJGHE is a fully open access journal, publishing under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). This permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided the original authors and source are credited.


6. Data Transparency & Availability

To promote research reproducibility, authors are encouraged to provide a data availability statement and share underlying datasets, code, and supplementary materials when possible, except where restricted by ethical, legal, or privacy considerations.


7. Corrections, Retractions & Expressions of Concern

We maintain the integrity of the scientific record by issuing:

  • Corrections for factual errors that do not affect conclusions
  • Retractions for confirmed ethical breaches or major flaws
  • Expressions of Concern for unresolved issues pending investigation

All notices remain permanently linked to the original article.


8. Editorial Independence

MJGHE retains full editorial independence. Decisions are free from influence by sponsors, institutions, advertisers, or other stakeholders. Editors and reviewers are selected based on expertise, impartiality, and adherence to ethical publishing standards.


9. Appeals & Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a reasoned request. Appeals are reviewed by a senior editorial committee. All complaints and ethical concerns are handled in strict confidence in accordance with COPE guidelines.


10. Indexing & Archiving

MJGHE is pursuing inclusion in globally recognized indexing databases, including:
