At the Mogito Open Access International Journal of Medical Science (MIJMS), we uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. This Publication Ethics Statement outlines the responsibilities and ethical expectations of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher in ensuring the credibility and scientific value of all articles published in MIJMS.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
A. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that all submitted work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. Any use of previously published material, data, or ideas must be clearly attributed to the original source. MIJMS utilizes plagiarism detection tools to verify content originality prior to peer review.
B. Authorship Criteria
Only individuals who have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the research—such as study design, data collection, analysis, or manuscript drafting—should be listed as authors. All named authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.
C. Data Integrity
Authors must present accurate and verifiable data. Data fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation is strictly prohibited. Editors reserve the right to request original datasets or supporting documentation during the review process.
D. Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest—financial, academic, institutional, or personal—at the time of manuscript submission to promote transparency.
E. Ethical Approval
For research involving human participants or animals, authors must provide details of ethical approval from a recognized ethics committee or institutional review board. Informed consent must be clearly obtained, documented, and described in the manuscript.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
A. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scientific merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, and methodological rigor. Editors operate independently and free from commercial or political influence.
B. Fair and Timely Review
Editors are responsible for ensuring all submissions undergo an impartial, confidential, and timely peer review process. Manuscripts are reviewed based on scholarly quality without discrimination.
C. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and author identities. No information may be disclosed to any third party without the author’s permission.
D. Managing Conflicts of Interest
Editors must recuse themselves from handling any manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest and assign it to another qualified editor to preserve the objectivity of the review process.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
A. Objective Evaluation
Reviewers must assess manuscripts fairly, constructively, and solely on their scientific content. Personal bias, unfounded criticism, or discriminatory comments are unacceptable.
B. Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers may not share, discuss, or use the contents of submitted work for personal benefit.
C. Disclosure of Conflicts
Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest professional, financial, or personal and decline to review if impartiality is compromised.
4. Publisher’s Responsibilities
The publisher of MIJMS is committed to upholding ethical publishing practices in line with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. The publisher supports editorial independence, promotes data accessibility, and takes active steps to protect the scholarly record from misconduct or manipulation.
5. Handling of Misconduct
MIJMS treats all cases of suspected research or publication misconduct seriously. The editorial team will follow this process:
Concerns are reviewed confidentially by the editorial board.
Authors or reviewers may be asked for additional documentation or explanation.
If misconduct is confirmed, MIJMS may issue a retraction, correction, or impose sanctions such as permanent submission bans.
In severe cases, institutional or funding bodies may be notified.
6. Retraction and Correction Policy
MIJMS is committed to maintaining a reliable and transparent scientific record through the following:
Erratum: For minor errors that do not affect the study’s conclusions.
Corrigendum: Author-requested corrections to their published work.
Retraction: For major ethical violations, fraudulent data, or fundamental flaws that invalidate the research.
All corrections and retractions will be clearly identified, accessible, and linked to the original publication.
Commitment to Ethical Standards
MIJMS believes that ethical conduct in medical publishing is critical to the progress of science and healthcare. We call upon all participants—authors, reviewers, editors, and readers—to adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity, ensuring that research is responsible, reproducible, and meaningful.
