Mogito Open Access Journals of Advance Surgery & Operative Care(MASOJ) Publication Ethics

At the Mogito Open Access Journal of Advanced Surgery and Operative Care (MASOJ), we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and academic integrity in surgical publishing. This policy outlines the ethical obligations of authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher, to maintain the credibility and reliability of all published work.

MASOJ Publication Ethics

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Originality & Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts must be original and properly referenced. MASOJ employs plagiarism detection tools to verify the authenticity of all content. Plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication is strictly prohibited.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant intellectual or practical contributions to the research—such as study design, surgical procedures, data analysis, or manuscript preparation. All authors must approve the final version before submission.

Data Accuracy & Transparency

Authors are responsible for presenting accurate, complete, and reproducible data. Fabrication or falsification of results will result in immediate rejection, potential retraction, and further investigation. Authors may be asked to supply raw data during review.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the work. Full transparency is expected at the time of submission.

Ethical Approval & Consent

All studies involving human participants, animals, or clinical specimens must include approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board. Informed consent must be obtained and documented for all surgical patients or participants involved in the study.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editorial Independence

Editors make decisions based solely on academic merit, clinical importance, and originality. MASOJ editorial processes are free from commercial, institutional, or political bias.

Fair & Timely Peer Review

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Editors are responsible for ensuring timely, unbiased, and respectful evaluations, regardless of the authors' background or affiliation.

Confidentiality

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and may not use or disclose content prior to publication without explicit permission.

Managing Conflicts

Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from decisions where impartiality is compromised. Such manuscripts will be reassigned to a neutral editor.

3. Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Objective Review

Reviewers are expected to provide thorough, unbiased, and constructive feedback based solely on scientific merit and clinical value. Personal opinions or offensive remarks are unacceptable.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers are prohibited from sharing content or using unpublished data for personal or professional gain.

Disclosure of Conflicts

Reviewers must disclose any real or perceived conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where impartiality is at risk.

4. Publisher Responsibilities

MASOJ is published by Mogito Open Access Journals, which fully adheres to the standards and practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The publisher supports:

  • Editorial and scientific independence

  • Broad, equitable access to surgical knowledge

  • Commitment to data integrity and authorial transparency

  • Prevention and investigation of ethical breaches in publishing

5. Handling Research Misconduct

MASOJ thoroughly investigates all allegations of misconduct, including:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data manipulation or fabrication

  • Unethical treatment of subjects

  • Authorship disputes

When a concern is raised, MASOJ will initiate a confidential inquiry, request supporting documentation, and may contact the relevant institution. If misconduct is confirmed, corrective action—such as rejection, retraction, or notice of concern—will be taken.

6. Retraction & Correction Policy

To maintain the integrity of the surgical literature, MASOJ uses the following mechanisms:

  • Erratum – For minor, non-critical errors

  • Corrigendum – For author-initiated corrections

  • Retraction – For confirmed cases of misconduct or critical flaws

All corrections will be clearly labeled and linked to the original article to maintain transparency and traceability.

Commitment to Integrity

At MASOJ, we believe that ethical publishing is foundational to advancing surgical science and patient care. We encourage authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to uphold these values in every manuscript submission, review, and publication decision.
