Welcome to the Authors Guide for the Mogito Open Access Journals of Microbiology & Infectious Agents (MJMIA). This guide provides detailed information to help authors prepare, submit, and publish their manuscripts successfully. We welcome high-quality, original research that advances understanding in microbiology, infectious diseases, and host-pathogen biology.

1. Scope and Article Types

MJMIA publishes a broad range of article types, including:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Short Communications

  • Case Reports

  • Editorials & Commentaries

  • Perspective & Opinion Pieces

  • Data Notes

  • Letters to the Editor

Research should focus on microbiology, infectious agents, antimicrobial resistance, diagnostics, immunology, pathogenesis, public health, or related interdisciplinary topics.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Language:

All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Non-native speakers are encouraged to seek professional language editing before submission.

Formatting Requirements:

Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format with the following structure:

A. Title Page

  • Title (concise and informative)

  • Full names of all authors and affiliations

  • Corresponding author's contact information

  • ORCID iDs (if available)

B. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract (250 words max; structured for original articles)

  • 4–6 keywords

C. Main Text

Structure may vary by article type. For research articles, use:

  • Introduction

  • Materials and Methods

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

D. Acknowledgments

Recognize funding sources, institutional support, and non-author contributions.

E. References

Use Vancouver style. Cite all references sequentially using superscript numbers.
Example:

  1. Smith J, Lee R. Antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacteria. Clin Infect Dis. 2022;54(3):215–221.

F. Figures and Tables

  • Include high-resolution figures (TIFF/JPEG, minimum 300 dpi).

  • Tables should be editable, not embedded as images.

  • Provide clear legends and titles for all figures and tables.

G. Supplementary Material

You may submit datasets, additional images, protocols, or videos as supplementary files.

3. Submission Process

Submit your manuscript via email to:

Include:

  • Cover letter stating the manuscript title, type, and significance

  • Manuscript file (with figures and tables)

  • Ethical approval statement (if applicable)

  • Conflict of interest disclosures

  • Author contribution statement

4. Ethical Compliance

All submitted manuscripts must comply with MJMIA’s Publication Ethics and follow guidelines for:

  • Human and Animal Studies: Include ethical approval and informed consent.

  • Data Integrity: Ensure all data are accurate, reproducible, and original.

  • Conflict of Interest: Disclose all financial or personal relationships.

5. Peer Review Process

MJMIA uses a double-blind peer review system:

  • Reviewers and authors remain anonymous.

  • Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts.

  • Decisions include: Accept, Minor/Major Revisions, or Reject.

Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments clearly and within the given revision timeframe (typically 2–4 weeks).

6. Article Processing Charges (APC)

MJMIA is an open access journal. To support the cost of editorial services, typesetting, and digital archiving, an Article Processing Charge (APC) may apply after acceptance. Fee waivers or discounts are available for authors from low-resource settings.

7. Licensing and Copyright

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Authors retain copyright of their work.

8. Post-Publication and Promotion

After publication, MJMIA encourages authors to:

  • Share links to their article via institutional repositories, social media, and academic networks

  • Collaborate on press releases and science communication

  • Submit follow-up research or commentaries for thematic issues
