Mogito Open Access Journals of Microbiology & Infectious Agents (MJMIA) Editorial Policy

Mogito Open Access Journals of Microbiology & Infectious Agents (MJMIA)

The Mogito Open Access Journals of Microbiology & Infectious Agents (MJMIA) is committed to publishing high-quality, ethically sound, and scientifically rigorous research. Our editorial policy outlines the principles and processes that govern manuscript handling, peer review, editorial decision-making, and scientific integrity.

Our goal is to maintain a fair, transparent, and accountable editorial system that fosters academic excellence and supports global collaboration in the fields of microbiology, infectious diseases, and public health.

1. Editorial Independence

MJMIA maintains full editorial independence from sponsors, advertisers, or affiliated institutions. All editorial decisions are made solely based on the scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance of the submitted work.

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board oversee the review process and uphold publication standards, ensuring impartial and unbiased handling of all submissions.

2. Editorial Board Responsibilities

The MJMIA Editorial Board consists of experienced microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, clinicians, and public health researchers from around the world. Their responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert peer review oversight

  • Guiding the journal's scope, policies, and strategy

  • Ensuring ethical compliance and scientific accuracy

  • Promoting diversity and representation within the field

  • Supporting the development of special issues or thematic series

3. Peer Review Policy

MJMIA uses a double-blind peer review process to ensure objectivity:

  • Reviewers do not know the identities of authors, and vice versa

  • Manuscripts are evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers

  • Editors assess the reviews and make the final publication decision

Peer reviewers are expected to provide constructive, unbiased, and timely feedback. They must declare any potential conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality throughout the process.

4. Editorial Decision-Making

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • Originality and significance of the research

  • Scientific validity and methodological rigor

  • Ethical compliance and data integrity

  • Relevance to MJMIA’s scope and readership

  • Quality of writing and presentation

Decisions may include:

  • Accept

  • Minor or major revisions

  • Reject

Authors receive detailed feedback to help improve their manuscripts. Appeals of editorial decisions are welcome and will be reviewed by an independent board member.

5. Ethical Standards

MJMIA adheres to the guidelines of:

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

  • World Association of Medical Editors (WAME)

All submissions must comply with ethical research practices, including:

  • Informed consent and IRB approval for human studies

  • Ethical treatment of animals in research

  • Proper data reporting and reproducibility

  • Full disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding

Allegations of misconduct, such as plagiarism, fabrication, or duplicate publication, are investigated promptly and thoroughly.

6. Corrections, Retractions & Editorial Transparency

MJMIA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic record. When necessary, we will issue:

  • Corrections for honest errors or omissions

  • Retractions for serious breaches of ethics or data falsification

  • Expressions of concern if an investigation is pending

All editorial actions are clearly communicated and permanently linked to the original article.

7. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We are committed to fostering inclusive publishing by:

  • Encouraging submissions from authors in underrepresented regions

  • Supporting gender and career-stage equity on the editorial board and reviewer pool

  • Avoiding bias in editorial assessments and review procedures

8. Confidentiality & Data Protection

All manuscripts are treated as confidential. Editors and reviewers must not disclose, discuss, or use any part of a manuscript before publication.

We comply with data protection regulations and handle all author and reviewer data responsibly.

9. Editorial Communication

Authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office with questions regarding:

  • Manuscript submission and review status
